Free programs to play MIDI
files—
The MIDI files can be played on your
computer system by music player software like Windows Media Player
and Real Player. However, more control of the music can be
achieved with programs like Cakewalk Express, Winjammer and
Quartz Audio Master. All of these programs allow you to view the
score and to limit what parts play. You can also compose your own
scores for practice. The versions referenced below are all limited in
some way because they are free "demo" versions that are designed to get you
to buy more advanced versions, but they are all quite usable.
